Some of the most unhappy and physically disabled people who appear in plastic surgeons’ offices are those with oversized breasts. Although occasional women enjoy having large breasts and the appearance of voluptuous femininity, which often accompanies, other women consider it a physical handicap. This is very evident when a person with large breasts attempts to be athletic and physically active.
When the breasts are huge, the problem is immensely worse. Posture becomes progressively affected. From attempts to support these heavy structures with support brassieres, deep grooves develop in the shoulders. In the warm sweaty environment of the deep cleavage areas and underneath these oversized breasts, there is oftentimes chronic skin irritation, dermatitis, and even chronic infection. Shoulder pain, neck pain, chest pain, and of course breast pain also accompany. Discomfort and pain associated with cystic disorders of the breast are commonly made worse by the breasts being heavy. Physical activity is often impossible, and such oversized breasts, normally developing at puberty, can be the source of marked social retardation or deviation.
A reduction mammaplasty is theprocedure whereby the breasts are reduced in size and simultaneously lifted into a normal position. The reason for doing the procedure is usually physical disability and discomfort, however the aesthetics is a great concern as well for the most patients.
Dr. Ceydeli has a significant experience in aesthetic breast surgery, and invented numerous techniques to improve the results in breast reduction procedures. His techniques were published in prestigious plastic surgery journals, and he was invited to national and international meetings to present his innovations. He believes that reducing the size of a breast is the easy part, but creating a gorgeous looking breast from an unsightly and disabling one is the challenge, and that is what makes the difference in breast reduction surgery and in a patient’s life.
