Breast Reconstruction

Every woman deserves beautiful breasts even after a mastectomy. With the advents of science and technology, more and more women are being diagnosed with breast cancer in early stages, and the survival from breast cancer is increasing parallel to that. The new developments in breast surgery are not limited to early detection and treatment of the breast cancer, but also in reconstruction as well.

The relief and happiness of being cured from your breast cancer now can be complemented with giving your breast back. With the innovations in microvascular plastic surgery, Dr. Ceydeli now offers autologous free flap breast reconstruction for more natural and long lasting results. By using free flap breast reconstruction (DIEP flap, muscle-sparing free TRAM), Dr. Ceydeli spares most, in some cases all, of your abdominal wall musculature for a decreased morbidity (less hernia, less pain, less functional limitations), and uses the excess abdominal skin and fat only to reconstruct your new breast. However, not every patient is a candidate for a more complex free flap breast reconstruction, and some patients may benefit from other sources for sculpturing your new breast, like your back muscle, or even implant/tissue expander reconstruction. An individualized surgical treatment will be planned for each patient, and discussed in details during your consultation.
